About the CKiD Data Workshop
The Chronic Kidney Disease in Children Study (CKiD) will host its third data workshop sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) on June 19-20, 2017 in Baltimore, MD. The purpose of the workshop is to promote the use of CKiD Study data through a comprehensive description of resources available to investigators interested in pediatric CKD; and to establish a framework for broader collaborations in new scientific initiatives using CKiD data. An application is required to attend the workshop and participants will be selected based on suitability of research interests and space availability.
CKiD Study Background
The Chronic Kidney Disease in Children Study (CKiD) is a NIH-funded, multicenter, prospective cohort study of children aged 1 to 16 years with mild to moderate impaired kidney function. This study has collected data to investigate the natural and treated history of chronic kidney disease and has contributed 60 peer-reviewed publications to the scientific literature. The primary goals of CKiD are to determine the risk factors for decline in renal function and to define how progressive decline in renal function impacts biomarkers of risk factors for cardiovascular disease; neurocognitive function and behavior; and growth failure and its associated morbidity. A publicly available repository of data has been established for each of these domains and includes study datasets through 2013.
